What is Mezcal?
Mezcal is one of the fastest-growing distilled alcoholic spirits in the world. It can only be made in a few states in Mexico.
A close cousin of tequila, Mezcal is made from the Agave plant, in Spanish called Maguey. The word Mezcal comes from the Aztec language - Nahuatl words “metl” and “ixcalli”, which means “oven-cooked agave.
Mezcal is an important part of the Mexican cultural heritage and traditional production methods are passed from generation to generation.
Mezcal is considered a drink of artisan origin.
